The Presence at Leatherwood Lake Update: One Final Investigation
The Presence at Leatherwood Lake was finished.
Or at least, we thought it was.
We were in the final stages of post-production, doing the last color correction, tightening a few edits, and preparing the film for distribution. The original plan was to release it in July.
Then we spoke with Ron Meyer again.
During our second interview, Ron suggested one more experiment at Leatherwood Lake. Go back, set a very specific intention before the investigation, and see what happened.
The intention was simple: triangles.
Go into the experiment with the intention of seeing a triangle. We decided it was worth delaying the film to try it. So we returned to Leatherwood Lake one more time and conducted the experiment. And we got some interesting results.
Interesting enough that we didn’t feel right leaving them out of the documentary. That meant reopening a film we had essentially finished and incorporating this final investigation into the last part of the story. We’re currently editing that new material, making the final adjustments, and completing post-production.
It has pushed the release back farther than we originally planned, but this wasn’t something we wanted to rush past just to meet an arbitrary date. The Presence of Leatherwood Lake has always been about following the investigation wherever it leads, and apparently Leatherwood wasn’t quite finished with us yet.
The documentary is still coming this year, with the release now expected toward the end of 2026. We’re finishing the final chapter now.
